The impeccable way of improving your site

BehaviorTracking for increased Usability

The initial purpose of BehaviorTracking was to have a tool for improving site usability. BehaviorTracking was designed to help web masters, web editors and others involved in web projects improve the search quality, the information coverage and the accomodation of visitors on your site.

This is done by providing comprehensive real-time diagnostics on which pages are the most popular, how many searches were successful (and help you analyze why), which searches were not successful, what people searched for yet didn't find, who your visitors are and much more. Find below a few examples on how to improve the usability.

BehaviorTracking is needed to improve site usability:
  • By identifying missing content
  • Help accommodate visitors (identify need for international sections, certain content, certain services)
  • Targeting content
  • Help you guide your users
  • See what generates interest and which of your web site activities work successfully
  • See the most popular links and search words
  • See what wasn't found
  • See which search results don't make users select a result link
  • and much more!

Turn "no results found" into increased usability and sales
Sometimes users search for words, products or terms that don't exist on the site. This can indeed be fatal - because research shows that users are most likely to leave a site when no results exists. Both MondoSearch and Behavior Tracking however have ways for you to turn the "No results found"- scenario into a beneficial one.

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
1. First of all a search engine should never just say "No Results found" when no exact match is found, but always display what the users typed and recommend a second attempt with alternative terms. MondoSearch does this by offering search alternatives in the form of both phonetic alternatives, avoiding that nothing is found due to typos or misspellings, and of synonyms that are made custom to each site. The BehaviorMatch feature will allow for synonyms to be automatically suggested based on other users' rephrasing.

2. Study BehaviorTracking to see which words weren't found. Among the not found search terms, you are likely to find several relevant requests, often even spelled correctly that haven't given the users any results. Imagine these to be products or services in demand from your company! What would you do? We would suggest you re-direct users/ buyers to similar products (which can be easily done with MondoSearch SearchNames or Ranking features) or even broaden or target your product-portfolio.
